RANGITATA ISLAND SCHOOL.
The following is the report of the Inpector of Schools in South Canterbury (Dr W. F. Anderson) on the above school. It reflects very great credit on the teacher, Mr Charles O. Roskruge ; “The Standard subjects have been most efficiently taught, and my only regret is that time lias not been found for something more under the head of Extra Subjects. It is a remarkable thing to find only one pupil below the Standards, and I hope the district will eoon be able to furnish some additional pupils to supply the places of those who are now promoted. “So many subjects are fully satisfactory that I find it difficult to single out any for special commendation. On the side of defects, I should like to see greater attention given to the reading of the higher Standards, more punctuation in the grammar of Standard V. (which is otherwise an excellent class), and great improvement in the writing of Standard IT. “The papers throughout are neatly presented, and the copy-books of the higher Standards are very creditable both to pupils and to teacher. “ The good attendance throughout the school is worthy of remark. “ W.
