A match was played yesterday in the Temuka Park between the Temuka Young Men’s C.C. and the Geraldine Wanderers C.C., and resulted in a victory for the Wanderers by 33 runs, afier a vvell-contested game. The bowling of Bethune and Hargreaves was excellent, and proved too much for the Temuka team. Bethune, Fish and Macdonald baited well for Geraldine, getting into double figures in both innings. For the Y.M.C.C. the bowling of Wood and Ogiivie was very good, and Heap, Brown and Ogiivie scoped web, Heap getting into double figures and not out. Luncheon was provided by the Temuka team and fully enjoyed. A return match will bo played in Temuka between the Temuka C.C. and the Geraldine C.C. on Wednesday next. A match between the All-England Eleven and a picked Australian team was concluded at Adelaide on Monday, the English team winning with ten wickets to spare. The English professional cricketers now in Australia will not pay a visit to New Zealand this season, us they do not considered the terms offered good enough. The cricket match between the Canterbury and Auckland Elevens concluded at Christchurch on Tuesday last, the home team winning in one innings with 74 runs to spare. The following are the scores— first innings, 92 ; second do, 181 ; total, 273.
