The report was now read as follows “ Be Rangitata Hotel—Nothing has as yet been done towards furnishing this house, nor has any agreement: been come to between the parties interested in it, and can give no prospect of the house being fit for a license within any certain time. Mr Compton attended the Court and - explained that he had leased the hotel from Jas. A telegram was read from Mr D. M. Boss, attorney for S. W. Morrison, the mortgagee, stating that he was in favor of Mr Compton getting a renewal of the license until such time us the dispute between the parlies was settled or the property sold. Mr Maslin thought pressure should be brought to bear on the parties to get the matters in dispute settled. Mr Compton asked for a renewal of the license for ten days, as he was not willing to stay in the house for a longer period unless things were settled. Mr Maslin proposed, MrTripp seconded and it was carried—“ Tliat this meeting stand adjourned till February 3rd at 11 a. m., and that unless the dispute is settled betv #en the mortgagee and the other parties concerned, and the house furnished before that date, the license be cancelled ; the Clerk to inform all parties of this resolution.” On the suggestion of Mr Tripp, the Clerk was instructed to refer Mr Ross to section 55 of the Licensing Act 1881, which is to the effect that no new accommodation house license can be granted until the annual meeting in-June.
