TEMUKA YOUNG MEN’S CLUB.

The annual general meeting of the above Club was held last night, the President (Rev. T. A. Hamilton) inthe chair. The Chairman reported that there were 77 members on the roll, 55 of whom were active and 22 honorary. During the six months 14 had left, and there were now only 63 members. Essays, debates, football,’ etc., had been carried on during the winter, and pricket, etc., in the summer, Bible Classes were held from 9 to 10 a.m. on Sundays, under the supervision of the Rev. T. A. Hamilton and Messrs Wood, Russell, an! O’Halloran, in rotation. The balance-sheet showed tha l- (he receipts had been £SS 18s lid, and the expenditure £55 11s lid, On the motion pf Mr Russell, seconded 1 by Mr O’Hul 1 oran, the report and balancesheet were adopted, On the motion of Mr W, Collman, seconded by Mi J. Bussed, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the retiring officers, and a specia' vote of thanks to Mr Lucas for the excel’ent way ip whiph be had conducted lire bpaipesg of thp Club. The proposer qnd seconder spoke in very I complinu nfary terms of the way iu which Mr Lucas had cpndiiptecl the business. The election of officers was then proceeds with, resulting as follows; President : Rev. T, A. people at Church who need not to attend before. It was better that they should meet together in a club like that one. than out in the public street. It was natural that men should like to meet together, and he considered that an institution like that was the best place they coukl do so. They could learn in it self-control and self-respect, which they could not cultivate at meetings in other places. Messrs OTialloran and Russell also thanked the members for having been reelected. After some other matters were discussed, a vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the proceedings.
