CHRISTCHURCH RAGES. The Canterbury Jockey Club’s Summer Meeting took place on Saturday afternoon. Although the day was fine the attendance was limited. About £4500 passed through the totalisator. The following are the results ; New Year Welter Plate Handicap, of 100 sovs., with a sweepstake of 5 sovs. each. Mr GK G. Stead’s b c Puck - • 1 Major George’s ch Nelson - -2 Middle Park Stakes, a sweepstakes of 10 sovs. each, with 250 sovs. added, for two and three-year-olds. Mr G. G. Stead’s b c Russley - • 1 Mr H. Hereford’s ch f Dime - -2 Midsummer Handicap, a sweepstakes of 10 sovs. each, with 300 sovs. added, for three-year-olds and upwards ; second horse to receive 25 sovs. out of the stake. Major N. George’s hr c Waipiti - • 1 Mr G. G. Stead’s b c Ike - - -2 Selling Race, a sweep of 5 eovs. each, with 50 sovs. added. Mr W. Russell’s Silver Queen - • 1 Mr D. O’Brien’s hr c Derwenter - -2 Craven Stakes Handicap, a sweep of 5 sovs. each, witli 150 sovs. added ; second horse to save his stake. Mr J. Stephenson’s ch h Taiaroa ... 1 Mr D. O’Brien’s ch h Johnny Faulkner 2 Major George's ch h Nelson 3 The Scurry Stakes was won by Mr Coates’ Nelly, and the Consolation wai a walk over for Mr T, Quill’s Grand Duke.
