ST. SAVIOUR'S CHURCH, TEMUKA.
The annual treat in connection with the St. Saviour's Sunday School, took place yesterday, in lite Park, and was a great succes*. The weather was all that could possibly be desired. The children assembled at the church at 11 a.m. when the Rev. Mr Hamilton briefly addressed them, founding his remarks upon viii—s. : " And the streets of the City shall be full of boys and girls playing." Hymns were sung and prayer offered up for grace and guidance during the day, and then the children were formed in procession in the street, headed by a large banner, bearing the motto : " Onward and Forward." Each child carried a bannere*. Th? procession formed a pretty sight as it wound its way down the main street to the Park. The day was spent most enjoyably and happily, games and races being indulged in, an abundance of toys having been provided for prizes. Refreshments were given to the children twice durinsr the day, and, there being abundance, the parents and friends were heartily welcomed to paiticipate. In addition, each child received a pack»t of strawberries and also of lollies. Tea beins over, the procession reformed, and marched back to the Church gate. Here the children halted and sang the Evening Hymn and a verse of "God Save the Queen," and, after giving three hearty cheers for their teachers and the ladies and gentlemen who had kindly given towards their treat, and also for Mr and Mrs Hamilton, they dispersed to their homes with happy and contented faces. We are requested to add that the thanks of the Incumbent and Superintendent are cordially given to those who liberally responded to the call made upon them on behalf of the day's enjoyment for the children.
