MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
An iiflj-'iirned meeting of the Board was lield in the Road Board Office, Peel Forfs', o;i Tuesday the 30th December. Membra present-The Hon. J. B. A. Acland (Chairman), Messrs G. J. Deunistomi -:jid C. G. Tripp. MINUTES. The minutes of the last meeting were road ami confirmed. CoRRESPnjJDENCE. The following correspondence was read (in I considered : From tha Crown Lands Office, Christcimreli, in reference to the Board's application for n grant of land nßar Fairlie Creek, iifider the Forest Trees Planting Act, Mitt.ii;" that the Inspector had been in-. s'ni;''" I to report upon the plantation.— The Oletk was instructed to apply for a copy of thu Inspector's roport, From Mr F. W. Marchnnt, forwarding a plan, of the road deviation on Tripp'i P.. S-. From the Manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company, Timaru, submitting a price for land required for new road to the Opuha Bridge. Resolved—- " That the offer be accepted, and that
the Board's solicitor be instructed to have the necessary conveyance executed." From the Survey Office, Timaru, forwarding tracing of sections 832 and 1345. From Mr R. I. Button, requesting leave to lay a tramway across the cross road, Peel Forest.—The request was "ranted. From Messrs Taylor and Flatinan, resigning any further right to cut or remove timber from the cross road in Peel forest, under the conditions of their contract. Resolved—" That the Clerk acknowledge the receipt of Messrs Taylor and Flatman'B letter, and inform them that the Board will be willing to receive any further application which they may wish to make referring to the said road." From the Timaru Harbor Board, intimating that it will be necessary to elect a representative for the district on the Harbor Board, on the 9th February next. —The Clerk was directed to attend to the matter. From the Chairman of the Canterbury Plantation Board in ieference to plantation reserve No. 1859, stating that t!.e Board would pay the cost of repairing the fences, but that they could not refund the cost of planting and they had no power to transfer the reserve to the Mount Peel Board. MISCELLANEOUS. The Clerk was d'rected to write to (he Timaru Borough Council asking their consent to closing the road running between reserve 2195 and section 27450, and make application to the Commissioner of Crown Lands to have certain gravel reserves vested in the Board.
