Mr Maslin said something ought to be done with (he reserves, and proposed that a Committee b 6 formed to report upon them. It was also resolved that Mr Sherrstt be appointed dog-tax collector. overseer's report. The Overseer's report was read as follows : "1 have the honor to report that since last meeting Messrs Lewis and Co. have finished their contract between Mcllraith's and Rirby's, also embracing Cole's road, and have done fair work. They have also been paid the balance due upon their contract as per the resolution of the Board. "Jas. Beckley has finished his contract iu gravelling the street in the Upper Township and has commenced his contract between Huffey's and Mcllwrailh's. "The surface-men have been engaged most of the time since last meeting in spreading shingle for the contractors referred to above.
"Mr Addis has commenced his contract for kfibing the footpaths, as agreed to by the Board, He has also undertaken to complete the concrete culvert near Mundell's, as per Ils tender, £4 195.—1 am, etc., "0. E. ShERRATT, " Overseer to the Board." INSPECTOR OF NUISANCES' REPOOT. The report was reud as follows : "I have the honor to report as to the sanitary slate of the town district as follows : First, wuh reference to the sections adjoining the Town Board office, on the West side of Talbot street. I would suggest that that Mr A. Macdonald's attention be called to the stagnant water flowing out of the manure heap that lies between the stable and the outbmldiugs belonging to Mrs Holloway, and further, to request that, a certain amount of filling iu of clay be insisted upon, in order to force the present stagnant manure liquor into a drain which I would suggest should be made at the boundary of the reserve. " The same remarks apply to the old shed, and other outbuildings on Mrs Hoiloway's section. The drain could be cut ;it the west side of reserve 696 and a pipe culvert brought over Peel street, which would hav-3 a beneficial effect in sluicing the drain referred to. ' With reference to the old shed occupied by Mr Lawson, something should be done to have it properly cleaned. "I have also examined Mr Farrell's back premises and found everything in good order, excepting the urinal which is attached to the hotel buildings. I certainly would recommend its removal to a less conspicuous place. Or, if the Board do not see the necessity of its removal it is absolutely necessary that tho trough of the urinal should be lined with zinc, with a good fall to do*n pipe leadto the river. "Mr Denoon has opened out tho drain leading from his manure heap into the riverbed,' which bef-'ietime flowed down Tall'Ot street iu front of the new Bank of New Zea'and.—l am, etc., "0. E. Sherratt, " Inspector of Nuisances." Resolved College Board of Governors, the owners of reset ve COG, together with Mr Postlethwuite and the owners of adjoining sections mentioned, be requested to take steps to abate the nuisance complained of." The proposed drain alongside the reserve was left with the Works Committee to report upon. The clerk was also instructed to write to Mr Lawson in reference to the old shed occupied by him. SIDE CHANNELS. Mr Taylor drew the Board's attention to the grass growing in the side channels in the township. The Overseer said the surface-men bad been too busy to attend to the matter. Mr Taylor thought the Overseer should be empowered to put on an extra man when required. ACCOUNTS. Af.'or passing accounts to the amount of £G4 103 lOd for payment tho Board adjourned.
