SOUTH ORARI SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting 'of the above Committee was held on Monday, the 15th. Present—Messrs R. A. Barker (Chairman), Bisset, McLeod, Stewart, Gregg, Binskin, and Bates, Tlie minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was received from the Board of Education enclosing fonns of abstract of school fund accounts, with a request that they be accunife'y tided up, and returned together with the Committee’s account books, vouchers, etc., and their annua! report by the 17th Jan., 1885. Resolved—“ That the Chairman fill up the form and draw np the annual report, to be presented for approval at a Committee meeting to he called immediately on the receipt of the Inspector’s report. The teacher reported the average attendance to he : Boys, 17.9 ; girls, 21.5; total, 30.4. Resolved —“That the school break up on the 23rd Dat ember, to be reopened on Tuesday, the 6th of

I Jinuary, 1885.” The Visitor reported I tiut 1 tie gins’ swing required new ropes, rnd that the latch of the front gate was Hissing. He also drew attention to the great, falling <ff in the attendance, _ and stated that there was one big boy living near the school who never attended. Resolved —“ That the Chairman instruct the police to serve the father with a notice to compel him to send his son to school ; also that irregular attendau 6 notices be served on the parents of the children ascertained to have been most irregular in their attendance.” Mr Gregg was appointed Visitor, and agreed to procure and fix ropes on the swing and a latch on the gate. Mr Binskia gave notice that he would move at the next meeting the following ;—“ That the resolution passed at a former meeting re distribution of prizes be rescinded, and the whole question re-opened before the examination report is read.” After passing accounts amounting to £1 3s, the meeting terminated.
