GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.

A special meeting of the above Board was held in the office on Monday evening. Present—Messrs R. H. Pearpoint (Chairman), R. Taylor, Thos. Farrell, W. S. Maslin, and N. Dunlop. The Overseer, Mr C. E. Sherratt, was also in attendance. DISPUTE BETWEEN THE ROAD BOARD

AND TOWN BOARD

The Chairman, after explaining that the object of the meeting was to consider the offer made by the Road Board at their last meeting in reference to matters in dispute between the Boards, read the following letter from the Road Board :

" The Chairman Geraldme Town Board

" Sir, —I have the honor to forward the following resolution passed by the Road Board at its meeting on the Sth inst., viz. :—" That the Road Board offer the Town Board the amount of the arbibration award with interest at 6 per cent, from the 19th June, 1884, in consideration of the Town Board abandoning any claim to the Road Board reserves ; the Town Board to have the right of taking shingle from reserve 1299. That on the acceptance of this offer the Chairman and two members of the Road Board be authorised to settle the whole matter in dispute with the Town Board.'—-I am, etc., " William Shiers, " Clerk to the Board.

After a short conversational discussion it was decided to accept the lioad Board's offer, and the following resolution, proposed by Mr Taylor, aad seconded by Mr Farrell, was carried unanimously—" That the offer of the Road Board be accepted ; the Clerk to draw out the necessary agreement re reserve 1299."

It was farther resolved on the motion of Mr Farrell, seconded by Mr Taylor —" That the Finance Committee be empowered to arrange to the best advantage." This being all the business, ihe Board adjourned till Wednesday evening.
