Mr W. S. Maslin, auctioneer, Geraldine reports that during the last ffeek he has been successful in disposing of several properties placed in his hands for sale. On Friday lest he disposed of 55 acres situated at Gapes’ Valley for J 275, a very satisfactory price. At

the same time he offered a house nn'i section in the town of Geraldine hut the reserve placed on it being too high a sale did not eventuate.

During the week he disposed of Mr Wm. Honk bison's brick house and 20 acres of freehold land to the north of Temuka to Mr A. Grant at a satisfactory price. On Tuesday he disposed of a section and house at Temuka, the property of Mr O’Bryan, to Mr Wheelband at £250. The sale of Mr Hopkinaon’s stock was well attended by buyers, but they did not feel inclined to give the reserves placed upon ihe_ jrarious lots, consequently very little business was done.

AUSTRALIAN MARKETS

Melbourne, Nov. 16

The Melbourne Manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand, Limited, reports on the local markets as billows : Wheat, per bushel, 3s lOd, market irregular ; malting barley, slow of sale at 4s to 4s 6d ; New Zealand oats, feeding softs, are in fair demand at 3s lid to 4s ; milling ditto, 4s Id to 4s 2d, market quieter, but steady ; New Zealand oats, under bond, 3s Id to 3s. 3d, with moderate enquiry.
