TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the above Board wa« held last Wednesday night. Present, Messrs Gray (Chairman), Brown, Mason, Blyth and Quinn. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous and also of a special meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. From the Colonial Secretary, acknowledging receipt of By-laws. From the lamp-lighter suggesting that as the days were long and lamps unnecessary they should be taken down and stowed away. From Mr Aspinall, stating that it would be necessary to advertise the bv-laws seven clear days before they came into force.

From Mr Job Brown, asking permission to have two or more crossings put down to his granary. From the Town Clerk, i imam, giving information with regard to the mode adopted in Timaru as regards the nightman’s work.

From Mr J. T. M. Hayhurst, stating that he was willing to remove a nuisance in a paddock near Storey’s stables, but he declined to have anything to do with the nuisance near Taylor’a boarding house as the tenant was responsible for it. The crossing still wants several more loads of clay and a slight coat of shingle patting on which I propose doing at once, I have also had 9in, pipes laid across Cass Street at a cost of £4 6s, the Road Board being liable for half cost, The account for same I forwarded to the Board last Mon Jay.

It was resolved—“ That the Chairman insure the office and furniture for the sum of £loo.’* ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £63148 Id were passed for payment. The Board then adjourned.
