TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held last evening. Present — Messrs Gray (Chairman), Quinn, Brown, Blyth and Mason. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. Letters were read From the Geraldine County Council stating that their Registrar of Dogs would not register dogs within the Town Board District. From the Police Department, stating that the hours of the police would be changed so as to meet the request of the Board. From Mr W. Vincent, in reference to Mr Roberts’t new sanitary process. From Mr Boulter, stating that some person ran against one of the lamp-posts, on purpose or accidentally, resulting in the lamp opening and the wet getting on the wick, and he had to get a new wick before he could light it. From Mr T. B. Sheen, asking his name to be taken off the roll as the property belonged to the late Mr Mendelson’s executor's. NUISANCES. On the motion of Mr Quinn seconded bv Mr Mason, it was resolved—“ That at ail meetings of this Board in future the Inspector of Nuisances forward a report of the sanitary condition of the Town, in accordance with the Health Act.” THE PIKE BRIGADE. It was resolved on the motion of Mr Blyth, seconded by Mr Mason—“ Tint the necessary funds applied for by the Fire Brigade be granted, agreeably with the condition expressed in their application that the amount be refunded when the Brigade was in fands.” overseer’s report. The Overseer reported that he had to pay 8s per day to men to work the fire engine, and the wells would soon bo as bad as ever if the Brigade did not practice on them. The footpath from Quinn’s to Pilbrow Street hud been finished. He would recommend that 9 : inch pipes be laid across Cass Street, as the Road Board would have to pay half the cost. The fencing in front of the office had been done. Shingling and forming footpath in Commerce street would be completed by next Saturday. The surfacemen had finished clearing out the waterchannels in Main South Road, Cass street, Commarce street and Burkett street, but as they both are now at other work it would take this month to dear all the water-chan-nels necessary^within the town boundary. The rates were coming in slowly, only £8 9s lid having been received, which, with £l2 12s 7d received from the Teniuka Road Board as their share towards Cass Street, he had paid into the Bank to the credit of the Board. There was some difficulty with regard to where to deposit the nightsoil, but that had all been settled. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £149 18s Id were passed for payment. ADJOURNMENT. The meeting then adjourned until the first Wedoesday in November.
