On the application 'of the" Hon. Mr Richardson, a week’s extension .of time was granted to the North Island Railway Committee to bring up its report. Replying to Mr G. F. Richardson, the Hon. Mr Richardson said the Government would consider the advisability of substituting payment by stamps for railway charges, but he did not think the change would ensure any good purpose. • Replying to Dr Newman; the : Hon. Mr Richardson said offers for the manufacture of railway locomotives in the colony would be invited. A number of Bills were introduced and read a first time. The Anatomy Act, the employment of Females and Others Act Amendment Bill, the School Committees Election Bill (Mr Steward) the Gaming and Lotteries Act 1881 Amendment Bill, and the Ohinemutu Goldfields’ Revenue Bill, were read a second time. A number of Bills were passed through Committee, and the House rose. .
