THE TEMUKA BRASS BAND.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Can you inform me through the medium of your paper whether the Temuka Brass Band ia still in existence 1 At one time the great cry was “ Wo can’t appear without uniforms,” but I think that difficulty is now got over, for about eight months ago a uniform was procured, and that at the expense of the public. Since that time, to the best of my knowledge, they have only made one appearance in tiie street, and that for a very short space of time.—l am, etc., A Lover of Music.
[The baud is still alive so far as we know ; at least, neither notice of its death nor its funera 1 has appeared in this paper. We often hear sounds proceeding from a certain quarter bearing a family likeness to those which bands generally produce. The weather has been cold during the winter, and probably the cry has been ; “ We can’t appear in uniform because it is not warm enough.” Besides, the band probably felt the thrilling melodies of the Salvation Annj were sufficient to satisfy (lie public. Our correspondent ought to have a little patience. He will yet get value for the amount he contributed towards the uniforms. — The Editor.]
