Sydney, Sept. 17. Further cases of smallpox hare occurred in Kent street, in the heart of the city, and eight persons have been placed in quarantine. It has transpired that the Government have given notice to the Pacific Mail Company that they will terminate the San Francisco mail contract in November next, but the service will be continued for the full term of two years, that is, until November, 1885. Sept. 18. The Colonial Treasurer made a supplementary Financial Statement in the Legislative Assembly last night. He stated that the income of the colony was highly satisfactory, and there was every reason to believe that the estimate of Customs receipts would be fully realised, as well as the receipts from stamps and land revenue. He announced that a loan for five millions sterling will shortly be placed on the market in London, and he believed it could be offered with advantage at 3£ per cent. Melbourne, Sept, 18. Arrived, this morning—Union steamship Wairarapa, frera the Bluff. Adelaide, Sept. 17. Intelligence is to hand from the Northern Territory that a party of police has followed, and come up with the blacks who recently attacked the party of miners, and that in an engagement that took place, four blacks were killed.
