A DUEL IN A CHURCH.

A desperate shooting affray between two members broke up the services at the Baptist Church of a lettlemennt six miles from Little Rock, Ark., on Sunday last. Two young men, named Lem Dishowen and Peter Lewis, attended church with the avowed purpose of taking home the minister's young daughter, and when Lewis from his own to the minister's family pew whilst the sermon was in progress, Disbowea drew his revolver and opened fire upon, him. Lawis returned the fire, and the congregation made rapid exit by the way of doors and windows. Neither was hurt, and both being disarmed, they agreed to go into the woods and fight it out with fists, Before they started the girl who waß the cause of the fight desired to speak privately with Lewis for a moment, which was granted. While the congregation was awaiting the result of the fist fight a pistol shot was heard from the direction of the scene ot conflict. The congregation hurried to the spot, and found Dishowan lying on the ground dying from a shot through the lungs. He said he was getting the better of Lewis, when the latter drew a derringer quickly from his boot-leg and shot him. The girl had placed the weapon there during her brief conference with Lewis just before the fight.—Baltimore Sun, June 18.
