ACCIDENTS, OFFENCES, ETC.

An inquest was held at New Plymouth on Tuesday afternoon on a fire that took place m:St. Aubvn street in that place, in January, 1883. Mr Pardy said the reason he held the inquest on this fire so long after it occurred, was owing to a house by the same owner being bnrnt at Henni. Mr and Mrs Charnock were examined. Before adjourning Mr Pardy asked for a warrant to arrast Mr and Mrs Charnock. At the Police, Christchurcb, on Wednesday, John Atkinson was charged with having on the-7th instant stolen £75 in notes,the property of John Hamilton,-at Oamaru, and was remanded to that town.
