THE RELIEF WORKS ON THE RAILWAY.

Sir, —Yoa Mate in yonr report of the works proceeding on the Government railway siding, that the men could earn 6s per day easily, which is quite untrue, as the men will not be able to earn more than 4s 6d per day. The men look upon that report as calculated to make discontent with other men employed by the Government. By publishing the same you will oblige, yours, etc., Henry Goodey. Temuka, August 8, 1884. We did not state that a man could earn 6s a clay " easily;" Mr informed us that he could earn 5s ,>d per day, and another cf those engaged , on the work informed vis' that he could make " more " if he were by himself.— I'HH EDITQIt.] 1
