CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE.

The Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday evening, the 25th inat :

Business in grain and produce, like all other mercantile pursuits, has been for the past week almost totally neglected, owing to the intense interest taken in the general elections, the net result of which has friven almost universal satisfaction. The tanning community now hold a more hopeful tone in regard to the politics of the country, although the chief cause of depression in their line still remains, namely, the continued low prices ruling in the Horae market for wheat, and until there is a genuine turn for the better there can be little hope of relief from any change in Government. With the exception of peas, the values of produce! have scarcely altered. The following are the quotations to date Wheat —Tuscans 3s 4d, Pearl 3s Sd, Hunters os 2d, for sound samples only ; seconds 2s 3d to 2s 6d, chick wheat Is 9d to 2s.
