TEMUKA ROAD BOARD.

A special meeting of the Terauka Road Board was held on Thursday last. Present—Messrs Talbot (Chairman), Paterson, Quinn, and Smith. RATE. In accordance with the notice of motion given at last meeting, Mr Robert Smith proposed, Mr M. Quinn seconded, and it was carried—“ That a rate of one half penny in the £ on the rateable value of the district be now struck, such rate to be payable in one sum at the Road Board office, Temuka, on the Ist day af August, 1884.” DEPUTATION. A deputation of the members of the Temuka lown Board (consisting of Messrs Gray, Brown, Blyth, Brown, Mason and the Clerk, Mr Dyson) waited on the Board to come to an arrangement as to the Temuka Town Board’s share of the funds of the Road Board. A statement of the accounts of the Road Board was read and considered. Ultimately it was proposed by Mr Quinn, seconded by Mr Paterson and carried—- “ That the sum of £IOO be handed to the Chairman of the Temuka To*vn Board in full settlement of this claim, based on the division of the property of this Board.” The matter of Cass Street and other matters were brought before the meeting, and it was resolved— ,c That the maintenance of the boundary roads or streets between the Town to Board and Road Board be handed over the Town Beard, subject to that body notifying to the Road Board their intention to expend money on the said boundary.” COMPLIMENTARY, Mr Gray briefly thanked the Board for the courteous way in which the deputation had been treated by the Road Board. Mr Talbot, on behalf of the Road Board, thanked the deputation for the spirit in which they had met the Road Board. THE BRIDGE AT WINCHESTER. The Overseer was instructed to invite tenders for fencing the approach to the bridge at Winchester. TENDERS. Contract 9 —Shingling Deßenzy’sroad : C. Leaiy, £ls; T. Oleary £l3 10s ; John O’Connor, £lllss (accepted). Contract 10 Forming Main South road : T. Small, £l6 ; M. Flaherty, £l3 16s; H. King, £11; M. Dunn, £9 7s (accepted). Contract 11—Cutting terrace and form* ing Stewart’s road J. Connor, £lO 10s ; M, Flaherty, £9 13s ;M. Dunn £7 7s ; Flanagan, £6 19s 6d; T. Small, £5 17s 6d. (accepted). The meeting then terminated.
