YOUNG MEN’S CLUB.

A Committee meeting was held in the Club rooms, Temuka, on Monday evening, July 15tb. Present—The Rev. T. A. Hamilton (in the chair) Messrs Whitehead, Langridge, Nicholas and Lucas. The minutes of the last meeting were A read and confirmed. M The Secretary read a letter from Mr Wood, stating that be was unable for present to give his promised owing to study, but forwarded books for the library. Dr Campbell had given a reply to the letter sent to him with reference to instructing a class, stating he would be glad to do anything be could for the Club, but regretted being unable to instruct a class in boxing at present.

Several accounts were passttd for payment, j The Hon, Secretary stated that Mr ■ Wm. Postlethwaite had called on him and stated that as he was leaving New Zealand for England shortly he would be very happy to pay his yearly donation of £1 for five years in advance, which was thankfully received. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to him for his kindness, this being the second donation of £5 Mr Postlethwaite had given the Club since it has been started.

Mr Oates waited upon the Committee, and presented the Club with a set of boxing gloves and also offered bis services to give lessons in boxing, His offer was accepted with thanks, and it was resolved to present Mr Oates with a membership card. The Secretary suggested that a sloping table or a reading desk be made for newspapers, with shelf underneath for back dates. It was resolved to ask Mr Hutlaad to undertake the work.

It was resolved to print a circular letter, asking for support from residents in the district, and the Secretary was instructed to get a number printed at the Leader Office,

Mr Whitehead proposed, and Mr Langridge seconded, that this meeting stand adjourned until the 4th Monday in the month, 28th July.

A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
