GERALDINE TOWN BOARD ELECTIONS.
Yesterday was the day appointed for taking the votes of the ratepayers within the Geraldine Town District for the election of seven householders as members of the first Town Board. Throughout the day there was considerable excitement, each candidate having I:is own particular supporters. The Courthouse was the centre of attraction, groups of people assembling now and again outside the building discussing the merits and demerits of the respective candidates soliciting their votes. Mr C. E. Sherratt was the Returning Officer appointed for the occasion, and his duties throughout the day were of a very arduous, nature as the result of the poll subjoined shows that neatly all ratepayers who were entitled to vote availed themselves of their privilege. The polling commenced at 9 a. id. and concluded at 6 p.ra.
The Returning Officer declared the first seven elected. The candidates briefly thanked the ratepayers. The Town Board hold their first meeting on Monday night.
