A man named John Sinclair was found dead on Saturday mornirjg'in McDonald's boarding house, Kaiapoi. The deceased

At Cambridge on Friday, several natives forcibly rescued n horse from Major Green, the Sheriff. It is said that Major Green intends to prosecute one native woman for biting and indecently assaulting him, also that he intends to lay an information against Mr Hay, solicitor, for inciting the natives. At Oamaru on Saturday morning, a child named Caradus was found dead in

bed beside its mother. It is supposed it was overlaid.

The Dunedin Star is to be proceeded against for contempt for publishing an important equity suit on Wednesday. Edgar Bastings, who committed suicide on board the Rotomahana, was a brother of Mr Horace Bastings, formerly M.H.R. He was on a visit to Melbourne for the benefit of his health. A blast had been prepared, and, not going off, Richard Dumpey and Robert Jenkins went to examine it, when it suddenly exploded. Both men were seriously hurt, and were removed to the Hospital.
