POLITICAL.
No news of Mr Pilliet's resignation of his seat for Stanmore has yet been received. ' If it reaches the Speaker before the meeting of Parliament it ie most likely that that gentleman will not tako any action with regard to it as the session is close at hand, and that he will leaye the House to issue a writ. The writ for the Ashburton seat will not be issued till Parlia.-'f ?i' '^cot?.
In i espouse to an influentially signed requisition, Sir Julius Vogel has replied that ho will contest the Ashburton seat. It is probable that he will address the electors at Ashburton on InVway to Wellington.
