Mrlvess addressed a meeting of his constituent* at Rakai*. and received -a unanimous rote of thanks and confidence. He announced himself a candidate for the district at the next election. Mr Larnach, M.H.R., addressed his constituents on Friday night at South Dunedin. He expressed himself at strongly against further taxation, and as being of opinion that the present expenditure oo education should We greatly reduced by the reimposition of fees and large reductions in the cost of secondary education. A rote of confidence in him was carried unanimously. Sir George Grey has addressed meetings in Dunedin and o*maru, and at each place was well received, votes of thanks and confidence being passed to him unanimously. A telegram from Gisborne states that Sir Julius Vogol has expressed his willing-
ness to stand for the East Coast constituency if there was a general desire that he should. He says ha has no intention of remaining permanently in New Zealand, but if the position of the colony is such that he feels he might be able to do some service in Parliament during the next few months, he will probably 3tay. The principal of Mr Locke's supporters will endeavor induce him to wait till the general election, in favor of Sir Julius Vogel.
