London, April 22. d he English Government assert that the position of Gordon Pasha is not critical, and they deny that he lias re quested troops to he sent to his assistance at Khartoum. April 28. Nuhar Pasha, President of the Council ot Ministers, has threatened to resign his position unless the Egyptian army is sent to the relief of Berber. Sir Evelyn Wood, with his array, is making

preparations to relieve Berber, and ill do so unless he is prohibited by the English Government. The Conference to consider the position of affairs in Egypt has not yet been summoned together. April 2i. It has transpired that a Note baa recently been addressed to the European Powers by the British Government suggesting that a Conference should be held to consider the present state of Egyptian affairs. In their replies all the Powers have assented to the principle involved, and it is understood that's meeting of European plenipotentiaries will take place at an early date, Gaiko, April 22. A rumor has readied here that the trwn of Berber has yielded to the rebels, and is now in the hands of the followers of El Mahdi. No authentic details are yet to hand. ‘ April 24. Sir it. E. Egerton, the British Consul-General, Nuhar Pasha, President of the Council of Ministers, and Sir Evelyn Wood have recommended the 'British Government to despatch a combined Eng'Uh and Egyptian force to Berber for the purpose of relieving the beleaguered garrison.
