Cairo, April 16. intelligence to hand from General Gordon, dated the Bth inst., reports that the Sheikh Auzi had submitted to him, an 1 that di srntion having occurred among the tribes in Kordofan, the Mahdi had b«-en compelled to abandon his projectedexpedition to Khartoum. General Gordon further announces that informaiion has reached him that the garrisons at KrssaU and Scnnaar are safe. London, April 17. Gordon Pash has appointed Zobehr Assistant Governor of Khartoum. Information has lem received from General Gordon that unless he i.s relieved, he will attempt to rei n at, as his store of ammunition is is scanty.
