THE TEMUKA HIGH SCHOOL.
A public meeting was held in the schoolroom, Temuka, last night, to consider the notice of motion given by Dr Foster at the Education Board meeting, to the effect that three months’ notice should be given to the bead teacher. Mr Kirk occupied the chair, and there was a large attendance. The Rev. Mr Gordon moved— 1 That the householders of Temuka viewing with regret the notice of motion given by Dr Foster at the meeting of the Board of Education of South Canterbury on the 3rd of March last, re giving three months’ notice to Mr Wood, desire to request the Board to give Mr Wood until November, 1835.’ Mr Miles seconded the motion, and it was carried. Mr Twomey submitted a draft of a petition, and a Committee consisting of Messrs Iwomey, Gray, Brown, Blyth, the Rev. Mr Gordon and the Chairman were appointed to make some alterations in it. The meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to Mr Talbot (who was present) and the Chairman. A full report will appear in our next issue.
