ENGLISH AND FOREIGN. London, April 3. A most disastrous fire occurred to-day in Paternoster Row. It raged fully five hours, and resulted in the destruction of several houses and immense damage. The property loss, it i? expected, will prove to be enormous. Later. The premises destroyed by fire in Paternoster Row were occupied by Pardon and Sons, printers, Faudel, Phillips and Co., and Benjamin Wilia ms’s new warehouse. The Right Hon. John .Bright is suffering from congestion of the lungs, AUSTRALIAN CABLE. Melbourne, April 4. The Navigation Board enquiry into the alleged race between the steamers Wairarapa and Adelaide in February last will be commenced here on Saturday next. April 5. Further agricultural returns published give the yield of wheat in Victoria this season at fifteen and a half million bushels. The average yield per acre thus remains at 13.89 bushels. The annual intercolonial (Victoria v. New South Wales) eight-oared boatrace w»s rowed to-day on the Varra river, and after a close contest was won by the Victorians by half a length. "The enquiry into the circumstances attending the collision between the steamships Wairarapa and Adelaiie in Port Philip, on the 20th February last, was commenced to-day, by the ViceChairman of the Navigation Board, The examination of the Adelaide witnesses was proceeded with, and the enquiry was then adjourned to Monday. Sydney, April 4. Showers of rain, which tor some time past have been greatly needed, have been experienced here, and the fall has been pretty general throughout the country districts. April 5. Dr Barry arrived this morning, and met with a hearty reception! from the clergy and laity. An address of wel - come was presented to him, and special services were subsequently held in the Episcopalian Cathedral,
