GERALDINE BEAGLE CLUB.
The annual general meeting of the members of the Geraldine Beagle Club was held at the Kennels, Wainui, Winchester, on Thursday afternoon last, there being a fair attendance. In the absence of the President, Mr W. Postlethwaite, who sent a letter of apology, Mr Ensor was voted to the Chair. ‘ The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Chairman read the following report, together with the balance sheet, which had been duly audited; — “ Report of the Committee of the Geraldine Beagle Club, for the year ending 27th March, 1884. “ Your Committee have the pleasure to lay before you their report and balance sheet of the Club for the past year. The
total receipts for the year amount to £99 2s lOd, to which has to be added the balance from the previous year of £6 9s making altogether £lO5 11s lOd. The expenditure amounts to £B2 13s, leaving a balance at the Bank of £22 18s lOd. The accounts have been duly audited. We have fifty six members' names on our i books, and the finances are very satis* factory, as you will observe. There are some outstanding subscriptions due by members, which would have increased our credit balance to nearly £4O had such such been received by this date. In consequence, th:::e unpaid subscriptions, will nave to appear in our next balance sheet. The last season was not such a satisfactory one for hunting as we could have wished, being an unpsually wet one, rendering the ground very soft and unpleasant to ride over ; nevertheless, there have been some very good meets and splendid runs. The humber of kills scored was fifty one. Our pack of hounds numbers twelve couple, and in splendid fettle, really a credit tu uur worthy master. Your Committee desire specially to give the ; r bets thanks to the farmers and others for their kindness inpermiting the Club to hunt on their respective properties. It is gratifying to notice we have not had any claims sent in for damages to fences or otherwise during ihe last season. It will be the duty of this meeting to elect officers of the Club for the ensuing year, in place of those retiring, in accordance with our rules. On the motion of Dr Hayes, seconded by Mr Gordon Wood the report and balance sheet were adopted. Sundry correspondence received was read by the Secretary (Mr Eckford), amongst which was a letter from Mr A, E. Cox, forwarning his resignation as a member of the Committee, having left the district.
After discussing several matters relating to the wellfare of the Club the meeting proceeded to the election of officers for the ensuing year, when the old officers were re-elected with the exception of Mr Cox, Dr Hayes being elected in his stead as Committeeman.
Proposed by Mr F. H. Barker, seconded by Dr Hayes, and carried— ‘" That £1 be called up for this seasons subscriptions." Eleven new members were elected and Mr W. Pitt elected an honorary member of the Club.
Resolved- “ That the meets be held on Tuesdays and Fridays in each week, at 10.30 a-ra. sharp, during the season, subject to the discretion of the master,’ Votes of thanks to the retiring officers and the chair terminated the meeting.
