Mr Milner-Gibson, who sat in Parliament for a number of years for Man Chester, and afterwards for Ashton-under-Lyne, is dead. He held the position of President of the Board of Trade, with a seat in tb© Cabinet, from 1859 till the dissolution of the Russell Ministry in 1806. In 18G1 Mr Milner Gibson was presented with a teslimonial in recognition of his efforts for the repeal of the ' taxes on knowledge' namely, newspaper postage, advertising duty, and the excise on paper.
