MEETING OF HOUSTHOLDERS.
The annual meeting of the householders in the Temiua school district was held last night in the schoolroom. There was a large attendance, about 100 poisons being present. On the motion of Mr Russell, Mr K. F. Gray took the chair. The minutes of the previous annual meeting having been read an'l confirmed the following report of the outgoing Committee was read : '' As directed by the Education Act of 1877, your Committee have pleasure in submitting for your approval the following report and balance sheet for the year ending 31st December, 1883. At last annual meeting attention was drawn to the loss of one who had long taken an interest in school affairs, fand during the past year the district has sustained tiie loss of Mrs Rowe, who has been an energetic and faithful teacher in the school for the past nine years. The amount of £2O special grant made by the Board of Education for tree planting in 1880, and which was spent by the Committee of that year in incidentals and afterwards saved out of the receipts by this Committtee of 1882, was held intact by the Committee until their meeting on 28th December, when, _ after careful consideration, it was decided to refund the amount to the Board, as that body had made application for it, stipulating that they (the Board) would make a special grant for tree planting when the season comes round. It will therefore be necessary for the new Committee to bear this in mind. "Fuel.—This Ccmmittea r«gret to report that, whilst the expenditure under this item '>as been £ll 6s 6d, the receipts from scholars deriving the benefit has been only £4 ss. " Meetmgs, etc. —There have been twelve ordinary and nine special meetings held during the year, which have been well attended. The relations of the Committee with the Board of Education and its officers have been harmonious and sat ; sfactory. "Prize Fund.—The concert given on Bth October in aid of the prize fund resulted in a gross receipt of £3O 143 ; less expenses, £6 6s Gd ; net total £24 7s 6d. Less amount expended in prizes, £lO 9s 3d ; leaving a balance of £l3 8s 3d, which will be handed to the Chairman ot' the new Committee for prize fund purposes only. F P "K. F. Gray, "Chairman."
