-ABUSIVE LANGUAGE. A cash of this nature brought by W. B. CJprichard against John Craig, was withdrawn at the request of the complainant, on the defendant promising not to interfere with him in future.

LARRIKINISM. : William Irvine, William Whitehead, Albert Dunford, and Frederick Collier were charged with having on Christmas morning damaged a window blind belonging to. Jeremiah Tangney. . All itibe-defendants pleaded guilty end had nothing to say except Collier, who pleaded not guilty. ; y Constable Mortpn said he had every reason to believe that Collier had =■ nothing to dp with it. He was with the rest, but he dissented from doing anything, and tried to dissuade the others from doing mischief. „ Frederick Collier was accordingly die-

charged. In reply to the Court, the constable stated that the circumstances of the case were that on Christmas morning the accused tore doWn the blinds off Tangney’s window. They then went across the street and tore the blinds offW, Storey’s and Mogridge and Wiltshire’s windows. For a long time similar and more serious oflences had been committed, to the great annoyance of the public.

His Worship said the question was whether he should not send the accused to prison without the option of a fine. Mr Dunford said it was the first time his-boy had done anything wrong. His Worship said he certainly bad a good mind to send them to gaol, but as this was the first time he would let them off with a fine of £2 each and CO»tS>
