THE HILTON MAIL SERVICE.

TO THE EDITOR. Mr Editor,—Ma certie, the Hilton folks are no flats. They surely thought we were a' asleep when they passed their famous resolution tae mak' the Temuka the pairt o' departure of the mail for these pairt s. But let me tell ye, Mr Editor, we're no that daft to sit quietly down an' let thorn hae it a' their ain way. Na, na, that winna dae. I was unco glad to see that the folks in Gapes' Valley had a hit meeting anent the subject, an' pledged theirsel's to oppose the project tooth an' nail, an' I ha'erae doot the Pleasant Valley folks will follow suit an? let the Hiltonians ken they're nae that daft. I havna' the Mna'est objection to mak to the Hilton folk haivin' a mail service o'their ain, and let them pay for't if they want it ; but for us outsiders to pay for their luxuries is a thing that a' the bit bodies about here ha'e a very Strang objection tae—an' I think nae wonner. We ane an a' are weel pleased the way mail seivice has been conducted for the last tew years, an' I think, wi a guid wheen itherß, it vad be a rascally shame to tak't oot o' the han's that has it, whan it has gi'en every satisfaction tae ninety-nine oot o' a banner o' the inhabitants. I think we
