London, Nov. 27. It is expected that the hew gunboat Protector, ordered for Victoria, will be launched in January. The R,!?, Abergoldie will take immigrants in the place of the Lusitania. There are indications that Lord Derby will surrender everything to the Boers. Public meetings have been held which demand the prevention of the Boers having the control of the Bechunas, which would interfere with the Cape trade to the interior. Nov. 28. An inquiry has been held in Dublin into the allegations which were made against Hossamore, a Magistrate, who is stated to have organised an Orange meeting at Noslea in October last, and the charges having been sustained, the Executive removed Hossamore from the Magistracy.

. Nov. 28. A disastrous fire has Occurred at Roubaix, in the north of this country. Two large factories were totally destroyed during the conflagration. In view of the possible failure ot negotiations which are now proceeding to bring about an amicable settlement of the Tonquin difficulty, active preparations are being made for the immediate despatch of reinforcements to the French army in Anam. A force'of 6000 troops is now held in readiness to start, if it should be deemed necessary to send them.
