AUCTIONEERS.’ REPORTS. CniUSTOHUBCH. Messrs Robert Wilkin and Co. report ; At the Addington yards on Wednesday 7, COBI sheep and 522 head of cattle were yarded. In fat sheep a full entry came to hand, hut with .one nr two exceptions, the qualify was only second rate. Owing to the trade taking advantage of last week’s heavy supply, there was a great want of competition, and .in consequence, owners, had to submit to , a drop on last week’s prices. Fat Cattle—-A large supply yarded. A fair proportion composed of good and prime quality descriptions, for which description the biddings were brisk and satisfactory sales were, effected at prices a shade in advance ■ ;of ; lat^ (1 quotations. We sold Mr, James's .crossbred weihers at 18s cacbV «iVd 'on acc unt of various clients, mixed crossbreds Troin* 13s 9d to 14s 6d ; merino wethers (medium quality), at. IQs and 10s Hd. Store steers and heifers at L 8 7s 6d each. At our sheepskin ; sale on Thursday we catalogued,4l23 sheepskins, 43 bags fat, 6 casks tallow, and G 3 bides. Biddings were very dull for' dry skins, which we,sold at a decline on last week’s rates, whilst butchers’ plaintained their last valuations. , -We sold country crossbreds at 2s, 2s 6d, 3s sd, 4s 2d, 4s 4d, 4s 8d ; country merinos, 2s 2d, 2s Bd, 3s 2d, 3s 9d, 4s, 4s 7d, ss, up to 5s 6d. Butchers* crossbreds, 4s, 4s Bd, ss, 5s 4d, 5s 6d ; a r nrt’ for 4 /.superior line of skins from the Frozen Meat Company, off Messrs Inwood Bros’, dheep, we obtained 5s 9d ; butchers’ merinos,,4s 6d, r 4s‘ 10d, 5s 3d, 5s 6d, 5s 7d, and for Mr 1 ‘ J Rosevyarne’s very heavy line, 5s 9d. Fat, 2d to 2|d per ib. Tallow, 23s to 29s per cwt. Hides and calfskins, wet salted, 3|B ; dry salted, 3|d ; green, 3|d ; cut and damaged, 2-|d ; calfskins, 3|d per lb.
CHRISTCHURCH CpRIS EXCHANGE. The Com Exchange reports for the week ending Friday, evening, the 28th inst : /There is nothing in the aspect of the grain market which calls for special comment, business during the week having evolved no new features. There is no disposition .on the part !If of buyers to operate, and transaclions may be said to be of a limited character. Wheat Good milling; samples 3s lOd to 4s per bushel, delivered in Christchurch; see' 1 quality, 4s 6d to 4s 7d per bushel ; second quality, 3s 3d to 8s 6d per bushel ; chick wheal 2s 3d to 2s Gd jut bushel. Oats—Bright milling quality 2s to 2s Id per bushel f.o.b, ; feed quality, Is 8d to Is lid per bushel. Barley—First-class malting, 4s 3d to 4s 6d per bushel ; feed quality and second quality malting 2s 4d to 3s Gd per bushel. Grass Seed—Farmers’s samples, 3s 3d to 3s 9d per bushel; machine dressed, 4s to 4s 3d per bushel ; cocksfoot, 4|-d to 4|d per lb. Potatoes —25s to 27> Gd jut ton. Cheese and butter— to 5d for the former, to 8d for the latter. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Sept. 26. Colonial bre dstuffs cmtinuo dull. Adelaide wheat, ex store, is worth 45s Gd ; Adelaide flour, 33s ; New Zealand wheat, ex store, 40s to 445; New Zealand wheat, off coast cargoes, 40.5, Wool sales—At to-day’s auction the catalogue comprised 9400 ba'cs. The lonO’ of the sale was firm.
