RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Tem uk a— Monday, Sept, 24, 1883. [Before D, Inwood and F. H. Barker, Esq’s., J.P’s.] LARCENY. Thomas Watson was charge with that he did on the 23rd instant steal six bottles of porter from the Orari Hotel. The accused admitted that he had taken three bottles. The case in which the bottles were in was in an outhouse, and the accused broke it. He was fixing up the case again so that * the old man would not know it’ when caught. The Court concluded that the offence was not serious enough to send the man to gaol but ordered him to restore the stolen property to the complainant, The case was dismissed. CIVIL CASES, Wildie, Allan and Stumbles v. F White —Claim £4 ss. Mr Aspinall appeared for defendant. The case was partly heard last Court day, and adjourned for the purpose of getting further evidence. W. A. Murray was examined, and he stated that when the goods were sold by Mr Wildie to Mr White, they were to be charged to him (witness). Wildie agreed to charge the witness with goods. At that time he had a current account with the firm of Wildie, Allan and Stumbles, but he did not know whether the amount had ever been debited to his account or not. Thomas White, defendant, corroborated this statement, and added that in settling with Mr Murray he allowed him in his account the amount which he was to have paid Wildie, Allan Stumbles. Judgment was given for the defendant with costs, B Thomson v J Alexander—Claim £6 18s fid.
Judgment by default for the amount claimed and costs.
