PHCENIX PARK TRAGEDY.
London, Aug. 5
The Morning Post considers that a deadly insult has been offered 10 the colonies by sending the informers to them, and that they have a perfect right to exclude and prevent their landing. It is reported in Dublin that' a resident in Melbourne was informed of • their movements directly they sailed, and was directed by the ‘ Invincibles 5 to airange for their murder.
A Phoenix Park juror recognised the informers on board the Pa titan. Smith was proceeding to Brisbane. It is reported here that the Victorian Government informed the Imperial authorities that the Irish informers would not he allowed to bind in Victoria, but nevertheless I] oil at, Kavanagli and Smith were secr-tly shipp'd on hoard the Pathan by the London police .

It is stated that the Imperial Government were made aware that there was a plot being organised to murder all the informers in the Phoenix murders.
Melbourne, Aug. 6
The two informers, Kavanagb and Hanlon, have each written a otter declaring that, in consequence of the public feeling which has been manifested in Melbourne against witnesses, in the Phoenix Park trial, they have no desire to land iu the colony, and solicit that they may be quietly sent to Calcutta or England. They stale that they were shipped through the instrumentality of Detective Simons, of the. London Police Force, and that their passages were engaged by him. According to the most authentic information, the Government intends to re-ship the informers to England.
Aug. 7.
The Pathan sailed yesterday for Sydney with the informers .on board, who were accompanied by. Detective Mackay. Smith continues to deny Ids identity, and is very violent. It is possible that be may be deported to Calcutta,

It has transpired that the 'Govern* ment has decided to permit the landing of the informers from the s.s. Pathnn, for their own protection.
Brisbane, Aug. 7,
Sir Thomas McTlwra’th, the Premier, has issued instructions that the Phoenix Park informers are to be refused per* mission to land in this colony.
