London, July 7
The first portion of the cargo of 7740 carcases of mutton, ex Fanstanton, from Port Chalmers, was sold to-day at an average of 6|d per lb. [N.B. —The above was delayed in transmission between London and Australia.] July 9.
Mr Bradlaugh in a letter to Mr Gladstone notified the Premier that ho will at an early date again present himself at the House of Commons 10. take his seat as the duly elected representative for Northampton. It is stated on good authority that James Carey has left Ireland. Up to the present no reward has been given him for having turned informer in the Phoenix Park trials, and he has never been pardoned for complicity in the mur* der of the late Lord F. Cavendish and Mr Burke. July 10. In the House of Commons last night Sir Stafford Nortbcote moved that Mr Bradlaugh be excluded from the precincts of Westminster Palace. After some debate the motion was carried on a division by a large majority. The Malagasy Envoys sailed yesterday on their return to Madagascar. The New South Wales loan of £3,000,000 was placed on the market to-day, Rome, Julyß. Much consternation prevails at Italian seaports and throughout the country generally at the rapid spread of cholera in Egypt, and fears arc entertained that the epidemic may be introduced by vessels arriving via the Suez Canal. The populace at Brindisi have avowed their intention of preventing passengers or mails from Egypt being landed at that port, and on arrival of the P. and O. Steamship Surat to-day they refused to allow the overland mails to be brought ashore. Alexandria, July 8. Eleven deaths from cholera have already occurred at Menzaleh, where the epidemic broke out yesterday.
