AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS. GEEALDINE. Messrs J. Mundell and Co. report on the live stock market, etc., for the week ending July 7th, as follows : The effect of the rough weather on Tuesday last reduced the number of entries at their usual monthly sale of stock at the Geraldine Saleyards on Wednesday, 4th inst, as we only yarded for the day's sale 32 head of cattle, 530 sheep* 15 pigs, and 27 horses. If wo are to be guided by the prices given and the competition shown at public sales, we are compelled to say that we have never seen the market so dull; for, considering that upwards of 100 persons interested in stock as buyers and sellers attended the sa!«, we sold a very small portion of our entry at the following prices : Fat Cows—£6 10 ; steers, in forward condition, £5 si; cows, in full profit and springing, from £3 to £5 ss. Score cattle we could not sell at owners' values. Sheep —Fat crossbred ewes sold at 10s 6d to 12s ; in store sheep we could not obtain owners' values. Store pigs, at 8s to 10s. Horses— Draught : We sold privately at from £22 to £24 10. At Winchester Fair on the following day we have never before seon s> small an entry of stock, as our entry comprised 16 head of cattle, 158 sheep, and 4 pigs; of which we succeeded in selling 3 fat cows at £4 27s 6d, and 4 pigs at 10s. We are of opinion that the fortnightly sale here is not going to have a satisfactory result.
At our rooms, Geraldine, on Saturday 7th inst., the following prices were realized for produce:—Potatoes, per sack, 4s ; flour, per sack, 21s ; sharp, per sack, 9s ; bran, per sack, 5s ; chick wheat, per sack, 4s 6d to 7s ; green pork, 4d per lb ; Hams, 7d per lb ; sides, 6d ; cheese, 7d per lb ; onions, per lb ; butchers fat, 2|'lperlb. At the .Wash'dyke yards on the same day, the entry avis under the average, and with the except tion of five steers every head was disposed of at full rates.
