Cattle—At Washdyke on Monday there was a fair number of stores and a few head of fat cattle came forward for sals. There was very little busines*
done in the former, and non • in the latti-r. the local trade being supplied by f>rm*T purchases, and vanes remain about the Hanie a* qu<-ted last w.-ek. Sheep—At Washdyke on Monday, and Winchester on Thursday, the entries wero under the u*ual numbers, and only a few lots changed hands.' They sold 250 crossbreds at 13s 6d, 150 crossbreds at 14r 6d, 150 crossbreds at lis 6d, 70 merino wethers at 6s 10J, 40 crossbreds at 12s.
Country Sales—On lucsdiy lust they held a clearing Hale on account of Mr J. S. Smith, at his farm, Otaio. There was a large attendance of farmers, dealers ani others, and prices realised were highly satisfHctor/, D:au >ht horgpg sold at fr-in L2O to L 27.
Propprty —At thfir rooms to-day they sold, on account Mr J. S, Smith, a large granary at Sr. Andrews Railway Station, ihe purchaser being Mr Wm. Evans, at Ll7O. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, June 8. New Zealand wheat has advanced 2i during the week, and is quoted to-day at 5s 4d. New Zealand oats are r4d ; maize, 2s lOd ; Sugar Com pany's No. 1 pieces pt-r ton, €35. Adelaide, June 8. Wheat remains at 5s to 5s Id, quotations nominal Town fl>ur p*r «on is worth £ll 10s to £ll 15s ; and country brands £lO 10s to £lO. The market is dull. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Jane 8. A portion of the cargo of froZ'*a mut ton ex Garonne, whs sold at auction today, and realised an average of 51. The meat is in good condition. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britian is 1,950,000 quarters, being 300,000 less than the quantity afloat last week, Breadstuff* are unchanged. Adelaide wheat ex store 48s; New ZaaJan 1 do, 44s to 475. Adelaide flour ex warehouse 43s 6d. Australian tallow has advanced 6-1 per cwt, and beet beef is worth 41s 6d, and best mutton 435. The catalogue at to-d»y*B wool sale comprised 11,500 bales. A good demand was experienced. June 9. Cousols remain at 100$. New Zealand securities are quoted as follows :- 5 per cent 10-40 loan, 10«| ; 5 per cent 1889 loan, H>4£ (sic) ; 4£ per cent 1879-1904 loan, 102£i ; 4| per cent inscribed s*oc!c, 102£. At the wool sale to-day, 10,300 bales were offered. The tone of the ssle was firm. The frozen meat by the Garonne has realised 6d, and notwithstanding the bad condition of some of it the British King'a shipment from iLyttelton has realised an arera*reof 6fdper lb.
