In the House of Commons last night the Premier was questioned regarding the negotiations which it is alleged had been entrusted to Mr Errington, M.P. for Longford, at the Papal Court. In reply Mr Gladstone admitted that in the interests o.f peace the Government had availed themselves of Mr Errington's visit to Rome to lay before the Pope an explanation of the situation in Ireland. Telegrams are to hand reporting that H.M. coastguard ship Lively has been stranded at Stornoway, in the Hebrides and has suffered considerable damage. Later. Most of the papers twit the Government regarding the admissions made by itin reference to Errington's semi-official mission to the Vatican.
The police in Dublin have exhumed the body of »n hotelkeeper in that city named July, who recently died under suspicious circumstances, and who, it is now suspected, was poisoned by the ' Invisibles,' June 9. The Lady Jocelyn, from Wellington, with a cargo of meat in excellent condition, has arrived at Plymouth.
Sir Hercules Robinson returns to the Cape, but will, it is reported, si.cceetf the Marquis of Noimanby as Governor of Victoria.

News has been received here report ing that the Albanians are offering a determined opposition to the assaults of the Montenegrins. Several stubborn encounters have taken place with them and the Turkish troops who have been despatched to assist them. Cairo, June 7.
The trial of Daoud Pasha, the instigator of the burning of Alexandria after the evacuation of Arabi's troops in July last, was concluded to-day. The prisoner was found guilty and santenced to death,

Mr Service's colleagues fully endorse his views regarding the proposed annextion of New Hebrides. The Argus approves of the same, and insists that the colonies should contribute the expense of annexation.
The Age has despatched Mr Morrison, who recently walked from the Gulf of Carpenteria to Melbourne, to explore New Guinea.
The Age suggests that the proposed exhibition in London should be belli under the auspices of the Colonial InstL tute.
Adelade, June 9
The Adelaide Chamber of Commerce supports Mr Twopenny's proposal to hold a Colonial Exhibition in London. Launceston, June 9.
The ship Asterope, 601 tons, from London to this port, is ashoro at Low Head, and is expected to kcoiue a total wreck. She has been abandoned to the Underwriters. The cargo is valued at £60,000. Sydney, June 9.
His Excellency the Governor has unveiled the 6tatue of the late Mr T. S. Morfc, which has been erected opposite the Exchange. A vast multitude of people was present, and an eloquent oration was delivered by the Hon W. B. Dalley. Brisbane, June 10.
The Colonial S<cretary has received a telegraphic despatch from the Home Government announcing the death of Sir Arthur Kennedy, late Governor of Queensland, at Aden on June 3id.
