TO THE RATEPAYERS OF THE GERALDINE ROAD BOARD DISTRICT.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,- — I notice in Mr 0. G. Tripp’s advertisement of his intention to contest the election for a seat on the Geraldine Road Board that he cannot help showing his spleen against one or more of the present members of the Board. If Mr Tripp imagines that by abusing his opponents he strengthens his own causa, I hope the ratepayers of the Geraldine Road district will show their abhorrence of such conduct by so recording their votes as to leave Mr Tripp at the bottom of the poll. I would further remind the ratepayers to consider Mr Tripp’s announcement that he is against rating the district, and to ask themselves whether his past conduct in levying rates is in accordance with his arrived at intention, or whether it is only a move to blind the ratepayers, and to be broken as soon as the object (the coveted seat) is gained. If the ratepayers consider their own interests they will give their votes to those whose interests lay in the district, and not to one whose property lies almost entirely in the Mount Peel district. The present members have faithfully fulfilled the trust committed to them, and are deserving the continued support of the ratepayers.—l am, etc., A Ratepayer.
