TIMAEU MARKET^. Prime milling'wheat. 4s to 4s Id ; fowl feed, Is 3d to 2s, Oats, milling, Is 8d ; feed do, Is'Od. Barley, 4s to 4s 3d. CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE.
Report for the week ending Friday evening, the 11th inst: Little or no change lias taken place in the s'ate of the market during the past week, and on the whole business is exceedingly quiet, without any quotable alterationj to note in value. Wheat—Sound wheat in shipping lines ranges from 4s 4d to 4s Gd f.0.b,; second quality wheat, not damp, 3s Gd to 3s 91 per bushel, delivered in Christchurch* , Damp wheat is almost unsaleable, excepting at prices not commensurate with tl • value of nhick wheat, from 2s 10d to 3s 3d per bushel. Oats —Good stout milling are being held at from 2s 2i tc 2s 2|d per bushel; feed quality. Is lid to 2s Id f.o.b. Barley—Really prime malting samples are scarce ; 4s 4d to 4s 7d per bushel is obtainable for this quality; second rate samples from 2s 4d to 3s 6d. Grass Seed— Farmers samp'es, fairly cleaned, 3s 6d to 3s 9d per bushel; fnachine dressed will command up to 4s par bushel cocksfoot, 3ld per lb f.o.b. Potatoes—Not much business has been transacted during the week. Buyers are offering 35s per ton, delivered, Christchurch, while sellers are not anxious to quit under 35s at country stations within a radius of nine miles. Beans and Peas—The former are worth 3s 6d per bushel, f.o.b. ; the latter 3s Gd to 3s 9d, according to sorts and quality. Cheese and Butter—The former is woith 5d to sjd per lb., f.o.b. ; the latter Is to Is Id per lb, f.o.b. STOCK SALE Messrs R Wilktn ani> Co. report:— At the Addington Yards, on Wednesday a full supply of fat stock came to hand, Th-re was only a middling attendance of buyers, and prices , ruled irregular through out the sale. In fat sheep a fair proportion consisted of prime and good quality cross-breds (principally from South Canterbury), which found buyers at prices about equal to late quotations while there was only a drop in the prices of second and medium quality descriptions. Only a limited entry of stare sheep were offered, which changed hands at Inst week’s prices. A large entry of fat cattle met a dull sale, and owners had to submit to a further drop in prices. The totals for the day’s sale comprised 5598 sheep, 547 bead of cattle, and 385 pigs, of which we sold prime crossbreds at 16s 9d ; merino wethers at 9s and 9s Gd ; fat sleeis from £G 5s to £9 10s; ditto heifers, at £5; pigs (large) from 37s to 70s; medium ditto, from 2Gs to 325. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. MeI,BOURNE, May 9. Shipping wheat is dull and heavy at 5s 3d - malting barley 6s, market very strong; there is a firm and active demand tot New Zealand oats, feeding sorts now quoted at 3s to 3s 3d. ENGLISH MARKETS, London, May 9. The wheat market is quiet but steady, Adelaide wheat, ex store, 50s ; New Zealand do, 45s to 48s ; Adelaide flour, ex store, B4s. Australian tallow is quiet. Best beef, 43s ; best mutton, 455.
