CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS.

Report of the Christchurch corn exchange for the week ending Friday evening, the 16th inst. : The markets during the week are nominally unaltered. The same quiet tone which was perceptible last week continues. The weather lately has been somewhat broken, which has retarded threshing operations. Large quantities of grain continue to be delivered, and are being shipped and stored as rapidly

as possible. Wheat—Tuscan of good quality, in shipping lines, 4s 8d to 4s 4.1 per bushel, f.o.b. ; other wheats, 4s 1J to 4s 3d, f.o.b. ; second quality samples, 8s lOd to 4s ; chick wheat, 2s lOd to Ss 6d.

Oats—A rather firmer tone is observable. Holders are asking 2s Id to 2s 2d, for milling, f,o.b. Buyers, however, appear reticent, and not disposed to respond to the advance. Feed samples average about 2d per bushel under the foregoing quotations. Barley—Good malting samples 4s 4d to 4s 7d, delivered in Christchurch : extra good samples 4s Sd to 4s 9d. Grass Seed Fairly well cleaned farmers’ samples, 2s lOd to 3s 6d per bushel; well dressed 3s 7d to 3s 9d, delivered in Christchurch. Cheese and Butter—The former 5d to 6d per lb, the latter 9d to per lb, delivered in Christchurch. Beans and Peas—The former 3s 6 ' per bushel, f.0.b,, the latter 3s 6d to 3 9d per bushel, according to sorts an quality.
