HARVEST DRINKS.

The following recipes for sustaining drinks are by Dr Parker, and may be found useful: —1. To make one gallon— Take oatmeal, £lb cocoa, and same quantity of sugar ; mix with a little cold water into a thick paste ; put the whole into a gallon of boiling water, or into hot water and boil it. It is better used wunn, if used cold it must be fresh, not more than a few hours cold. 2. The proportions are £lb of oatmeal to 2 or 3 quarts ot water, according to the heat of the day, the work and thirst; it should bo boiled fresh every day. If jou find it thicker than you like, add more water. Before drinking shake up the ontmca' welt through tho liquid. In summer drink cold ; in winter hot; you will find it not only quenches the thiist, but will give you more strength and endurance than my other drink. If you cannot boil it you can take a little oatmeal mixed with cold water and sugar, but this is not so good ; always boil if you can. If at any time you have to make a very long day and cannot stop for meals, increase the oatmeal to |lb or and the water to three quarts if you are likely to be thirsty. If you cannot get oatmeal, wheat flour will do, but not quite so well.
