AUSTRALIAN MARKETS
Melbourne, Feb. 22
Wheat—Shipping, 5s 3 1 to 6s 5d ; malting barley, 5s to 5s 6 1 ; New Zealand oats, feeding, 3s to 3s 4d; milling, 3» 4d to 3s 6d, Wheat and barley are quieter, but steady. The market fir oats is depressed.

Retail prices.—Fresh butter, Is per lb; eggs, Is Id per dozen ; cheese, 8d to Is per lb ; milk, 41 per quart ; beef, 2d to 6d per lb ; mutton, 2d to 4i per lb ; pork, 6d per lb ; ham, Is per lb ; bacon, lOd per lb ; lamb, 2s to 3a per quarter. Wholesale.— Produce prices : Barley (teed), 2s 6d to 3s per bushel ; butter 8-|d to 9d per ib ; cheese (new), 4|d tosd perlb; fowls’ wheat, 2s 6d to 3s per bushel ; flour, £lO to £lO 10s per ton ; hums and bacon in cloth, 9d per lb; hay, £3 per ton; oats (feed), Is lOd to 2s per bushel; oats (milling), 2s to 2s Id per bushel ; potatoes (new), £3 to £3 5s per per ton ; wheat (milling), 4s to 4s 4d per bushel. Messrs Robert Wilkin and Co. report: At the Addington Yards on Wednesday 11,128 sheep, 282 head of cattle, and 199 pigs were yarded for the week’s supply. Wo sold merino wethers (light weights) at 7s 3d, A draft of about 600 crossbreds, two and four-tooth, at 9s. Merino ewes in draft, from 6s to 6s 4d. Fat lambs at 8s 6d. Fat heifers at £6 ss. Pigs from 11s to 275.
At the weekly sale of sheepskins held on Thursday at our New Zealand Wool Stores, there was a good attendance of buyers, with fairly spirited competition. Our catalogue comprised some good quality skins, of various descriptions, which were all sold at prices equal to late quotations ;—Woolly skins, large, 4s lid, 5s 3d, 5s 8d ; do, medium, 2s, 3s, 4s, 4s lid ; do, small, Is 4d, Is 7d, 2s ; lambskins, large, 2s 3d, 2s 6d, 2s lOd ; do, medium, Is 6d, Is lid, 2s
3d ; do, small, Is, Is 6J ; pelts, large and early shorn, Is lOd, 2s 2d, 2s 5d ; do, medium, lid, Is 3d, Is 6d, Is lOd ; do, small and late shorn, 4d, Bd, lid, Fat and tallow—The trade was well represented, and there was a good demand. Fat, best quality, clean and well saved, to 2-|d per lb ; second quality, to per lb ; heated and inferior, at Id per lb, aud calfskins, not sold.
