ENGLISH MARKETS

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report under date London, January 30th The wool market exhibits no change. Next sales are limited to 250,000 bales, and will commence on February 20th. Up to date 126,000 bales have arrived. The wheat market is quiet; Adelaide is worth 52s per 4961 b ; New Zealand, 45s per 4961 b. The tallow market is quiet, there being no continental demand for lower and medium sorts ; best mutton is worth £45 10s per ton ; best beef £4l 10s per ton. The leather market is firmer; best sides are worth lid. The New Zealand flax market continues quiet at the following quotations -Fine quality, £4B per ton ; medium, £45 ; common, £2l. The Bank of England rate of discount is 4 per cent.
