WAITOHI FLAT SCHOOL,
A meeting of the Committee was held, at the Schoolroom on Monday, December 4th. Members Present Messrs Talbot (Chairman), Anderson, Seaton, Moore, Hullen, and Currie. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. A letter from the Board of Education was read, stating that Mrs Gibbs and Geo. Anderson were appointed sewing mistress and pupil teacher [respectively ; and that in accordance with the wish of the Committee the appointments would be considered as made temporarily. The report of the monthly attendance was read, shewing the number on the roll to be 80, and the average attendance 43.18. A discussion toot place as to the prices to be charged to pupils for books, when it was resolved— ‘ That the Chairman, Mr Moore and the head teacher prepare a price list, and submit the same at the next meeting for approval.’ Mr Currie stated that he understood Mrs Campbell would be willing to undertake position of sewing mistress, and that as the salary of the head teacher, Mr Campbell, is very small, it would he desirable to transfer the appointment from Mrs Gibbs to Mrs Campbell. He had no doubt the change would be beneficial to the school as well as to the teacher. It was resolved— ‘ That the Board be asked to make the change suggested.’ It was resolved— ‘ That a subscription be raised for the purpose of purchasing prizes* and giving a school treat. Mr Campbell to be treasurer.’ An accouut from Mr Brown, £2 18 9d, for books, etc., was passed for payment. It was resolved to hold a special meeting on Thursday, the 21st inst., and the meeting then terminated.
